Hope For Today
Daily Encouragement for a Healing Heart from the Word of God
Deep pain and brokenness have a way of making Bible study difficult. To help bridge the gap and re-ignite our hunger for the Word of God, we’ve put together a daily devotional designed to help us all lean into God as we heal. May we seek Him daily!
Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life. Psalms 143:8 (NIV)
- Hope For Today
March 27 - Isaiah 45:20-25
Gather together and come, you fugitives from surrounding nations. What fools they are who carry around their wooden idols and pray to gods that cannot save! Consult together, argue your case. Who made these things known so long ago? What idol ever told you what would happen? Was it not I, the Lord? For there is no other God but Me, a righteous God and Savior. There is none but Me. Let all the world look to Me for salvation! For I am God, there is no other. I have sworn by my own Name; I have spoken truth, and I will never go back on My word: Every knee will bend to Me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to Me. The people will declare, "The Lord is the source of all my righteousness and strength." And all who were angry with Him will come to Him and be ashamed. In the Lord all the generations of Israel will be justified, and in Him they will boast.
It’s easy to see the foolishness of idols as they existed in the time of Isaiah. Though, there are still plenty who worship these man-made images of stone and wood even today, our idols tend to be less literal and more figurative. Still, they are just as foolish! We are more likely to bow before the idol of self than an image of Baal, or place our trust in the idol of money instead of a statue of Dagon. But what good comes of it? Can any of these false gods we worship really prepare us for what is yet to come, or bring us peace, wisdom, and hope in the midst of trials? Isn’t it more likely that we’ll sacrifice our families upon their altars just as the ancient people of God laid their children upon the altar of Moloch? There is still only one God, and He is a righteous God and Savior! May we look to Him for salvation! Whatever we face, may we bend our knee before Him, and declare with our mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father! May we confess our sincere and undivided allegiance to Him. May we look nowhere else for help. May we worship no other god. May we boast only in Him, and may He be the Source of all our righteousness and strength today, tomorrow, and forever!
Come back tomorrow for a new passage, a new verse image, and a new encouragement here at Hope for Today.
