May 4 – Romans 8:26-27
In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.
What an unmatched gift the Holy Spirit is from the Father to His precious children! Through all our trials and troubles, He is right there with us. Living in us. Helping us. Empowering us. Giving us wisdom. And according to these verses, PRAYING for us! We are so very treasured by our Lord! In John 17, we find Jesus spending the final hours of his life as a free man praying for us, and now we're told that the Holy Spirit prays for us almost constantly! I hope that makes you feel as treasured as you are my friend! To know that the Triune God of the Universe has spent so much time in prayer. For YOU! So in those moments when our hearts are so troubled we feel like we can't even muster the strength of mind to pray, may we remember this precious truth. We have the Holy Spirit right there with us – praying FOR us! We need only quiet ourselves in His presence, and He'll take care of the rest. He'll intercede for us. He'll interpret those deep groanings in our hearts before the throne of our gracious God. He'll align our desires to the will of our Father. We are so precious to Him! May that encourage our souls today!
