June 13 - Psalms 27:13-14
Yet I am confident I will see the Lord's goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
This verse has been one of my "cling to it" verses through many seasons in my life. To tell you the truth, it has come across my lips as almost a challenge to God once or twice too! And I think that's okay. As I read Scripture, I see many examples of people who challenged God to keep His promises, and He didn't seem to mind. In fact, it almost seems like He liked it. So, until the Holy Spirit leads me a different way, I will continue to dare Him to do what He's said He will do. How about you? Do you need the assurance He's given to us here? Do you ever get discouraged in a way that causes you to lose all hope that God is ever going to do anything good for you this side of eternity? Friends, He never promised to make life easy, but He did declare His goodness, and promise to never leave us or forsake us. He did guarantee to work everything together for our good! I don't know about you, but I've found that a little goodness from God goes a long way to make even the most hopeless situations feel manageable. So, let's hold tightly to His promises and wait patiently for Him to show up. Let's have the courage to face our trials with our game faces on – ready to fight and win for the cause of Christ. Let's be brave enough to wait confidently for the Lord, knowing that He is good. As long as there is still breath in our lungs and a beating in our chest, let's eagerly look for God's goodness in our circumstances. As those who love Him, we know He is working all things together for us!
