- Hope For Today
August 5 - Jeremiah 24:6-7
I will watch over and care for them, and I will bring them back here again. I will build them up and not tear them down. I will plant them and not uproot them. I will give them hearts that recognize Me as the Lord. They will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me wholeheartedly.
I was so struck by this passage when I was reading it in my daily Bible reading the other night. The things God says HE will do here remind me that He is sovereign. These verses remind me that I have been chosen by Him. There is nothing I can do in my own strength, everything is from Him. Passages like this inspire me to pray for the ones I love with renewed confidence in my God's ability to change hearts. So I'm going to do something a little different here today. I'm going to use these verses to inspire a prayer. For me, this prayer is for my children, my husband, and me. But it can be for anyone. I invite you to pray along with me for whoever God lays on your heart. "Dear Hevenly Father, Lord, I praise You that you are in control. I am so thankful that You are on the throne! Thank-you for choosing me to be Your dearly loved daughter! Because I know that You are sovereign, I want to plead with You for my family. Watch over and care for us. Whenever we are far from You, Lord, bring us back again. Build us up. Establish our foundation firmly upon You. Root us deeply in Your Word. Give each of us a heart that recognizes You as Lord! God, give us hearts that beat for You. Make us men and women after Your own heart. I pray that we will be Your people, and You alone will be our God. I pray that we will follow you wholeheartedly all the days of our lives and that you will bring us to live with You forever! We love You Lord, help us to grow in that love every day and for it to pour out of us onto each other and onto everyone we meet so the world will know that You are our God. In Jesus's Name, Amen!!!"
