December 29 – Psalms 119:105-112

Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey Your righteous regulations.
I have suffered much, oh Lord; restore my life again as You promised. Lord, accept my offering of praise, and teach me Your regulations. My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying Your instructions. The wicked have set their traps for me, but I will not turn from Your commandments.
Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight. I am determined to keep Your decrees to the very end.

If there is one thing I could inspire you to do, it would be to take the next year and read through the entire Bible. I have such a passion for the Word of God. The whole canon of Scripture. I love that from Genesis 1:1 – Revelation 22:21 the God of the Universe reveals Himself to us. He wants to be known, and He moves heaven and earth to make a way for us to know Him. Do we grasp that? Do we really?

The Creator of heaven and earth, the Only True God, the Eternal One who always was, who is, and who will always be the High King of Heaven looked down at His creation and chose humans to be His own special treasure. Throughout the whole of time, as we have again and again ruined our ability to have a relationship with Him because of our sinfulness, He has worked tirelessly to bring us back. To redeem us, and then to draw us into relationship by revealing Himself to us. Shouldn’t we be eager to devour every word? To study it so that we can learn everything there is to know about Him?

May we be like David, and live with a passion for His Word! May it be a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our paths! May we each choose not only to know the Word, but to live in obedience to it! May we never stop studying it, may we never stop obeying it, and may He never stop revealing Himself to us through it. As His dearly loved daughters and sons, may it be our greatest treasure, our heart’s desire, our lifeblood until the very end!
