December 27 – Micah 7:7-8

AS for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.
Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again.
Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light

We’re getting ready to start a new year, and with that comes the opportunity to make some resolutions. Over the next few days we’ll be talking about some of the very best things we can do to be sure the year ahead is the very best one yet. At the very top of that list is this – let’s resolve to look to the Lord for our help.

I know there are about a million different ideas out there about what’s going to bring us to a place of health and wholeness. Some will tell us it’s all about what we put into our bodies. Others will say it’s all about what we do with our bodies. There are those who will claim it is through taking care of ourselves first, or participating in a program, or completing the twelve steps. But I’m here to tell you every single one of those things aren’t going to do the trick. Not on their own.

Our only source of true help is the Lord God Almighty! HE can hear our cries for help, light up our darkness, and save us! No matter where we’ve fallen, He can lift us up again, and raise us to heights we never dreamed possible.

So, our first resolution needs to be this: Let’s commit to look to the Lord for help. That means we’re going to be spending a whole lot of time in prayer over the next year. We’re going to be emptying our hearts to our Lord when we don’t know which way to go. We’re going to be talking to Him when we feel overwhelmed, burdened, confused, weary, lonely, hopeless, or lost. And then, we’re going to wait with confidence, knowing that our God will certainly hear us, and though we fall, we WILL rise again!
