This Day in History: 0000-12-08

December 8 – Deuteronomy 32:43

Rejoice with Him, you heavens, and let all of God’s angels worship Him. Rejoice with His people, you Gentiles, and let all the angels be strengthened in Him…

Probably a lesser known prophecy concerning the coming Messiah can be found here in Deuteronomy 32. It was foretold here that the angels would worship the Christ and rejoice with Him at His coming. This prophecy is confirmed when it is quoted in Hebrews concerning the birth of Jesus.

Hebrews 1:6 – And when He brought His supreme Son into the world, God said, “Let all of God’s angels worship Him.”

Prophecy –
The angels would worship Messiah and rejoice in His coming.

Fulfillment –

Luke 2:8- – That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize Him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snuggly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

I just love to imagine being one of those shepherds that night! How incredible must it have been to have gotten that magnificent glimpse of eternity – hearing the army of angels singing their praises to God! Every one of us who belong to Him will get to hear that heavenly choir one day, but to experience it here on earth – what an honor!

May our own voices join in their song of worship this Christmas season as we follow in their footsteps and rejoice in the birth of Jesus. He was the promised Messiah, and He came to set us free! How can we ever stop singing our praises?
