This Day in History: 0000-11-26
November 26 – Psalms 50:14-17 & 22-23
Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on Me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give Me glory.
But God says to the wicked: “Why bother reciting My decrees and pretending to obey My covenant? For you refuse My discipline and treat my words like trash…
Repent, all of you who forget Me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you. But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors Me. If you keep to My path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”
Are we regularly offering our sacrifices of praise to God? Are we remaining true to Him and His will for us? May these verses serve as a warning so we will guard our hearts and be certain that He has our faithfulness.
“Lord, help us to be true to our relationship with You. Keep us from ever turning our faith into a set of rules and regulations. Protect us from the temptation to become proud or legalistic, believing that our adherence to Your ways somehow makes us better. Help us to always remember that it is only by grace, through faith in You that we are saved. Remind us that it is only Your righteousness which makes us pure.
Soften us to Your discipline. Help us to recognize it, respond to it, and grow from it. Help us to thank You for it! Give us eyes to see that it is in love that you do it.
Oh God, soften our hearts and make us quick to repent. Point out to us anything that doesn’t please You and lead us along Your path. Help us to be quick to follow.
Above all, Lord, give us grateful hearts. Help us to recognize Your mighty works and to be humbled in gratitude for all You’ve done for us. We are so thankful to belong to You. May we praise you all of our days! Amen.”
