November 24 – 1 Timothy 1:12
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do His work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve Him…
What does God want you to do for Him with your life? Do you know your calling?
Each one of us was created by our Heavenly Father for a very specific purpose. He laid out in advance good works for each of us meant to advance His Kingdom and draw others to salvation and to deeper relationship with Him. But if you haven’t figured out your purpose just yet, don’t worry about it too much. Just set it as a priority to find out. Seek Him. Devote yourself to the Word of God and to prayer and strive to be obedient to everything you learn. He will make His will clear to you!
To those of us who have found our calling (or at least one of them) let me pose a question for us to answer. Do we thank Him for it?
Are we humbled to have been considered trustworthy for the task? Do we feel honored to have the privilege to serve the Lord God Almighty? It’s so easy to begin to feel entitled to our purpose. As if we are doing God a favor by serving Him, rather than recognizing that He is doing us a favor by allowing us to serve. It is no small thing to work for His Kingdom. May we never ever take it for granted! May we never fall into the trap of believing that our gifts and talents have anything to with us, and always understand they are the gifts of God given to strengthen us for the task.
Heavenly Father, thank-you for making us your very own! What a privilege it is to be counted among Your people! Thank-you too, for the privilege to spend our lives in Your service. We are humbled and honored that You would consider us trustworthy! Thank-you for equipping each of us so uniquely for exactly what You want us to do and for giving us the strength to see it through. Help us to always rely on You alone and to never forget what a truly wonderful privilege it is to work for Your Kingdom! In Jesus’s Name, amen.
