This Day in History: 0000-11-22
November 22 – Colossians 3:15-17
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your heats. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as representatives of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
A peaceful life. That is what God wants for us. He wants us to have His peace, which the Bible tells us passes all understanding. It doesn’t mean we won’t have trouble, but we can be at peace even in trouble if our hearts are right.
So how do we gain peace?
It’s what we’ve been talking about all month. Thankfulness. A thankful heart is a peaceful heart. When the message about Christ, in all its richness, fills our lives, thanksgiving will spill out! When we are filled with gratitude for what God has done for us, we will be more loving and understanding with our brothers and sisters in Christ because we will understand that we are living under the same grace. We will be united together in common purpose, teaching and counseling each other with the wisdom that Christ gives us. This sense of community and unity will increase our gratitude, and we will worship Him together. And we will have peace!
So let’s start today. Let’s remember that we are His people and live so that every single thing we say or do is done as a representative of the Lord Jesus. Let’s give Him thanks in every circumstance, for He is always good and He is always faithful. Let’s make an effort to live this life together with other believers. Truly united in love. And may He grant us peace.
