November 20 – Ephesian 1:15-17

Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.

Friends, are we thanking God for one another? Are we regularly praying for each other? The apostle Paul serves as a wonderful example, all through his letters, of one who continually lifted up his fellow believers through prayer and with thanksgiving. I fear it has become a lost art. Let’s start today to change that!

Let’s make a list right now. Ask God for His leading and begin to write down the names of brothers and sisters in Christ whose strong faith in the Lord Jesus, and whose love for God’s people everywhere, has made an impact on our lives. We don’t have to know them all personally. Once we each feel our lists are sufficient, let’s slowly go down them and sincerely thank God for each one. Think of reasons to thank Him for specific things that each name represents.

After we’ve thanked God for each other, let’s go back and pray again over each name, this time, interceding for them. Let’s ask God to give spiritual wisdom and insight to each precious soul and let’s ask Him to grow all of our faith. Let’s ask Him for help if there are any issues we know of. Finally, let’s ask our wonderful Lord to unite us together in love and to draw each and every one of us into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him every single day of our lives.

May we rejoice together as His holy church, and be united as one under the love of our Lord and Savior forever!
