November 11 – Psalms 92:1-5

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim Your unfailing love in the morning, Your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. You thrill me, Lord, with all You have done for me! I sing for joy because of what You have done. Oh Lord, what great works You do! And how deep are Your thoughts.

How often can you be found singing praises to the Most High? If you’re like me, the answer might have to include the songs of our heart, because I, for one, have not been gifted with a beautiful voice, or a lick of talent when it comes to anything musical. But you know what? That’s okay!

God doesn’t care what we sound like, He cares what pours from our hearts. Is it praise?

When we wake in the morning, is the tune in our hearts one which proclaims His unfailing love? As our heads hit the pillow, are words of His faithfulness on our lips? Is the joy within us so great, it has to burst out in a song of praise because we are so thrilled to our core whenever we consider all our Great God has done?

The Psalms are overflowing with beautiful reminders that while life isn’t always easy or fun, the God who walks beside us is ALWAYS faithful, and music is a great way to keep that truth right in front of us. If you couldn’t answer yes to the questions we asked above, perhaps some time spent listening to worship music might offer the attitude adjustment you need. I know it has done the trick on many occasions for me!

So let’s queue up our favorite praise and worship songs and spend a little time today tuning our hearts and minds with melodies of thanksgiving to God Most High. May we close our eyes tonight saying, “You thrill me, Lord! I sing for joy because of what you have done!”
