November 5 – Colossians 2:6-7

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Thankfulness – we’re spending the month of November reflecting on it and living in it, but do we understand that it comes from God? A true heart of thanks-giving is not something we can force. It’s not something we can just decide to have and then have it. Rather, it is the product of a life built on Christ. The bounty of a faith rooted deep in the Truth.

Friends, we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord. We are His, so let’s continue to follow Him! Let’s study His Word daily, spending time getting to know the whole Cannon of Scripture. As we do, we will get to know Him more and more. He will be faithful to reveal Himself to us as we seek Him, and our roots will grow down deep into His love and make us strong!

Let’s pray continually. Talking to our God as one who knows Him intimately, for surely His dearly loved daughters and sons do!

The Bible makes a promise here: as we are obedient to follow Him, we will overflow with thankfulness! Doesn’t that sound appealing? A person overflowing with thankfulness is joyful! Don’t we want a joy-filled life?  I know I do! So may we start today and follow our Lord with all our hearts!
