November 1 – Psalms 100

Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before Him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.

It’s November!!! Fall is in full swing, and the holidays are just around the corner. Let’s spend this month with one singular focus here on Hope for Today (And hopefully in our lives as well) : To give praise to our God with thankful hearts! Let’s truly make this the month of thanks-giving! Let’s start today by using this beautiful Psalm to lead us into a prayer for our month.

Before we start our prayer, think of your favorite praise song and sing it to God right now. Just the two of you. Let’s come before Him, singing with joy!

“Dear Hevenly Father, we come before You now to worship You with gladness. Our hearts shout with joy as we reflect on who You are. Thank-you for making us – every single one of us in Your image, yet unique, and complex, and carefully designed to receive Your love and to bring glory to You! Thank you for choosing us and redeeming us and making each of us Your own. Thank-you for being such a Good Shepherd. Thank-you for the security we have in knowing  we can never wander far from Your side because you will always pursue us and bring us back to the safety of Your tender care!

Lord, as we enter Your gates and come into Your courts, boldly approaching Your Throne of Grace, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the privilege we’ve been given to have access to You! Help us to never take for granted the honor it is to have an audience with the High King of Heaven any time we want! We are SO THANKFUL! You are so good to us and we praise You Holy Father!

What an undeserved treasure it is to be loved by You! To be loved with a passion so great that You stood in our place and made a way, sacrificing Your own life for ours and enduring the torment that we deserved. To be loved with an everlasting love that is without condition. Oh, God, help us to never, ever forget that love! We are so humbled by it! We don’t deserve it, and yet You have given it freely. There’s nothing we can do to be worthy of that gift, Lord, but help us to live each day in a way that pleases You! Fill us, moment by moment, with Your Spirit and give us the power to understand Your love so that we will live as Your children should! Thank-you Lord!
