October 19 – Isaiah 55:6-7

Seek the Lord while you can find Him. Call on Him now while He is near. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that He may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for He will forgive generously.

Oh, how I wish I could somehow get this message to penetrate the heart of every human soul walking this fallen earth! Our God is so eager to forgive! So willing to restore. Why do we, in such great numbers choose not to seek Him? Why are we so prone to do our own thing? Why do we believe the lie that He is distant, uninterested, or overly punishing? Why do we tend to see Him as a mighty, but vengeful power? And most of all, why do we choose to stay entrenched in our sinfulness when we have been offered freedom?

Friends, may we each be different from the world. May we stand out and be counted among His own! May we be the few who DO turn, who DO change their ways. May we indeed banish the very thought of doing wrong and turn to the Lord so that we can receive His mercy and find grace to help us when we need it most!

May we spend our lives proclaiming to the world, “Seek the Lord while you can find Him!” May we use each breath to plead with those we meet to call on Him while He is near!

This life is precious, but short, and there is so much pain in this fallen world. God has placed each of us exactly where He wants us so that we can offer hope to someone who doesn’t know. He’s put us right here so we can demonstrate to them the mercy and forgiveness of the Lord. He has put us where we are so we can show the world what it is to be His, so that in the seeing, others will join us!
