This Day in History: 0000-10-04

October 4 – Psalms 27: 7-10

Hear me as I pray, Oh Lord. Be merciful and answer me!
My heart has heard You say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming!”
Do not turn Your back on me. Do not reject Your servant in anger.
You have always been my helper.
Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, Oh God of my salvation!
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.

What a privilege it is to be able to come to our Lord in prayer! Think about it. The Great I AM, the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth delights in talking to each and every one of us. He invites us, “Come and talk with me.”

May we always respond with a quick and eager, “Lord, I am coming!” May we never take for granted the honor of the audience we’ve been granted. He hears us!

Though our weak and wounded souls wrestle with insecurity. Though we sometimes fear that He will abandon us, or become angry with us and ultimately reject us, these fears are unfounded. He has always been our helper, and He does not change or cast a shifting shadow.

Let’s spend some time, right now, taking advantage of that beautiful relationship! Though people may fail us, our God never will. He is waiting to hold us close. Let’s run to Him now, crawl up into his arms and unload our worries and cares upon Him. For He cares for us!
