September 27 – Psalm 119:1-8

Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord.
Joyful are those who obey His laws and search for Him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in His paths.
You have charged us to keep Your commandments carefully.
Oh that my actions would consistently reflect Your decrees!
Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with Your commands.
As I learn Your righteous regulations, I will thank You by living as I should!
I will obey Your decrees. Please don’t give up on me!

Can we honestly say that these verses reflect the cry of our hearts?  I certainly hope so, but let’s take some time to examine them and allow Scripture to refine us.  Let’s use these verses to inspire our prayer today so that we will be men and women of integrity – filled with the joy of the Lord!

“Father in Heaven, we are coming before You in humility asking for Your help.  We know You give joy to people who live lives of integrity, and that is what we want to be.

Help us to follow the instructions we find in Your Word and the leadings of Your Spirit within us.  As we search for You, Lord, with all our hearts, reveal Yourself to us.  Give us the strength and the courage to never compromise with evil.  Lord, the enemy is crafty and the temptations are great, but You can keep our feet planted firmly on Your paths.

Refine us daily so that our actions will consistently reflect You, and will line up with Your Word.  Lord this is our hearts desire so that as we read and study Scripture we will find joy and peace rather than sorrow and shame.  As we spend the rest of our lives seeking You, use Your living and active Word to teach us daily, and help our attitudes to remain obedient and thankful.

Lord we love you so much and know that Your love for us is great! Please, never give up on us! In Jesus’s name, amen.”
