September 5 – Ruth 1:16-17

But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back.
Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live.
Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.
Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried.
May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!

Ruth is such an inspiring Bible character for so many of us! Her devotion to Naomi causes us to want to find within us that same kind of loyalty and to surround ourselves with others who do the same. Yet, every time I read through the book of Ruth, I can’t help but wonder about Naomi! There had to be something awfully special about her to bring about such faithfulness!

Are we impacting our world in this way? Do the people we form relationships with find themselves so inspired by our faith that they forsake their own gods and their own people and turn wholeheartedly to the Lord God Almighty? Would our devotion to our Lord inspire them to leave family and friends and follow us in the steps of obedience we take for God?

Friends, there’s little else I want more than for this to be true of me! I want my life to inspire others. Not for the sake of warm fuzzies, or my own glory, but for the sake of the Kingdom. How I long to hear one day that my children have lived their lives faithfully following God and to learn that it had a little something to do with what they saw in me. Or, to hear that through my writing, or my speaking, or my testimony, or through any aspect of our ministry here at His Dearly Loved Daughter people have found themselves spurred on to obedience or faith.

May we all be people whose lives cry out to the Lord, “Where You go, I’ll go and where You stay, I’ll stay. You’re people will be my people, for God You are my God!” May it speak so clearly and with such volume that all those around us join in and live
