This Day in History: 0000-07-08

July 8 – Proverbs 4:18-19

The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.
But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over.

We do not have to live our lives stumbling over unforeseen obstacles as we grope about in the dark! That is the way of the wicked. That is the fate of those who choose to abandon the truth of Scripture for their own foolish “wisdom.”  And it is a miserable, deficient way to live.

Instead, we can choose light. We can turn from our own ideas, surrender our notions about what is right and wrong, and allow the Spirit of God to lead us into truth. We can accept the righteousness of Jesus Christ which has been freely offered to us. We can live there – in that righteousness. Re-identified as His dearly loved sons and daughters. We can seek and follow Him, pursing wisdom through His Word. We can allow that Word to illuminate the way before us, marking out a clear path.

So let’s put the darkness behind us and choose the way of the righteous from this day forward!
