This Day in History: 0000-07-02

July 2 – Hebrews 13:5-6

…For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper so I will have no fear. What can mere humans do to me?”

These verses have become my mantra on days when I find myself living in a place of fear. Though my situation is not what it was when I started this writing journey, there are still days when I remember where we were back then. Still days when the enemy tempts me to live in fear that those days could return.

The truth is, those days could return. I may find myself dealing with an unfaithful husband again someday. That’s not the part of the temptation that is dripping with lies. The part I have to combat with the truth of Scripture is the living in fear of that day part. Though it may come, I absolutely, resoundingly DO NOT need to fear it. And friend, whatever it is you fear, neither do you!

Our kind, merciful, LOVING, gracious, caring, FAITHFUL, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, perfect, holy, righteous God has promised to NEVER fail us and NEVER abandon us. We can live in the confidence that HE is our helper, so we have nothing to fear.

Man will fail us. Humans will hurt us. People will betray us. It’s just part of life. It’s inevitable. It’s going to happen. But they are just people. What can they really do to us when the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, the Great I AM, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, the Alpha and Omega has claimed us as His very own? Our future is secure. Our identity is set. We are HIS!

I am choosing to believe this truth. To live in it. To proclaim in the face of my fear, “The Lord is my Helper.
SO I WILL NOT FEAR!!!!”
