This Day in History: 0000-06-29
June 29 – Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through?
Have you ever felt like the answer to these questions is not the understood “no” but a resounding “yes” instead? Have you ever felt like God has in fact failed to act, or disregarded His promises? Oh how the enemy wants to convince us this is true, but friends, that is exactly why we need the Bible. 66 books that show us again and again that HE. IS. FAITHFUL!
No doubt Joseph was tempted to believe God had abandoned him during those YEARS he spent in a nasty, dark, infested prison. But we see God was there the whole time. He was orchestrating a plan that would rescue not just His own people, but much of the world through the work of Joseph.
Many of the prophets tell us plainly that they wondered what God was doing, or how the story would turn out to prove His faithfulness. Yet they chose to believe He would come through. And He did. Every. Single. Time.
The Bible even reveals that those who have lost and will lose their lives for the sake of the Gospel will ultimately be vindicated in the end. Revelation shows them faithfully waiting until that day finally comes and Jesus Christ returns to execute justice on the earth. Those precious souls are granted eternity in a place beyond our imagination, a place for all time in the very presence of God Himself! And we are too!
Let’s commit ourselves to the Word of God. Let’s read it every day. Let’s allow its Truth to permeate our lives so our circumstances have no power over us. May we know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that our God is not a man, so He. Does. Not. Lie! May we live our lives knowing He’ll never speak and fail to act, knowing He’ll never make a promise He won’t carry through. May we live a life of faith in the God who is FAITHFUL!
