June 27 – Psalm 3

Oh Lord, I have so many enemies; so many are against me.
So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!

In our culture it is easy to get comfortable.  We’re not surrounded by war all the time like the author of this Psalm, and we start to think we don’t have any real enemies.  Our crafty adversary knows just how to lure us into complacency!  But when trials come (and they will certainly come) we are jolted back to reality.  The spiritual forces of darkness are vast, and they are mighty, and they are fighting with everything they have! We really do have so many against us, and friends, it’s time to wake up to that fact and go to war! The enemy is trying to make us believe our difficult circumstances will be the end of us.  That we can’t survive, and that God will never rescue us.  Don’t believe the lies! Read on!

But You, Oh Lord, are a shield around me;
You are my glory, the One who holds my head high.
I cried out to the Lord, and He answered me from His holy mountain.

No matter the battle we fight today, the Lord God of heaven’s armies is fighting with us! We need not battle alone. He will surround us, and protect us, and give us the strength to fight on with confidence.  Let’s cry out to Him today and know that He will answer us!

I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me.
I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.

The darkness of night holds no fear for those whose God is Jehovah!  He watches over us, protects us!  We are safe in His tender care and can close our eyes at night and rest in the peace that we will wake safe and sound under His watchful eye.  Even under the attack of legions of enemies, the spiritual forces of darkness will not cause us to tremble.

Arise, Oh Lord! Rescue me, my God!
Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked!
Victory comes from You, Oh Lord.
May You bless Your people!

Let’s join together today and cry out to the King of kings, “Arise, Oh Lord and rescue me!”  And as we trust Him to answer, let’s keep our eyes open so as not to miss a single victory!  We are His people! May He bless us today and give each and every one of us the victory that can only come from Him!
