April 28 – Ephesians 2:8-10
God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Oh what freedom there is in this beautiful truth! There is absolutely NOTHING any of us can do to save ourselves. No matter what, we can’t earn our salvation, so there’s no need to try! Instead we can rest in the knowledge, that when we believed in the work of Christ on the cross – when we accepted His free gift of salvation, we became a new and beautiful creation.
A masterpiece!
Wow! We have been created anew!
What are we holding onto? We can let it go! We’re a new creation! What are we striving to accomplish? We can let it go! Everything that God has created us to do, we will achieve through the power of Christ Jesus at work in us. We don’t need to worry about it or tire ourselves in the efforts. We can just let Him work through us. We can just walk in obedience. One step at a time. Let’s live in that freedom!
Out of His great love and eternal kindness our Father planned wonderful, eternity altering works for us long ago. Do we feel the great honor in that plan? Friends, we are His, and He has made us His very own masterpiece! May we live in that life-changing truth every single day!
