This Day in History: 0000-04-16

April 16 – Romans 6:5-11

Since we have been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised to life as He was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.  And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with Him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and He will never die again. Death no longer has any power over Him. When He died, He died once to break the power of sin. But now that He lives, He lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

What victorious verses!  Are you certain of your salvation today?  You can be!  Through the power of what Jesus did on the cross each and every one of us has the opportunity to nail our sins up there with Him.  To crucify our old sinful selves.  The moment we do we are no longer slaves to sin! We have, in that moment, each and every one of us, been set free from the power of sin and death and will one day be raised with Him, never to die again.

The Bible says we can be SURE of this, because when Jesus died, He died once to break the power of sin, but then He was raised.  That is our assurance.  He was raised and that means we will be too.  The purpose of His death was to break the power of sin.  The purpose of His resurrection was to bring glory to God.

Are you living your life free from the power of sin?  If not, have you truly nailed it to the cross? Let’s take a moment right now and confess our sins to Him.  Let’s ask for His forgiveness.  Let’s ask for His supernatural power to set us free from the power that sin has had over us.

Let’s claim what is ours!  Let’s go forward in victory and live for the glory of God.  Let’s commit each moment of our day to Him and ask Him to fill us with the power that comes through His Spirit.
