This Day in History: 0000-03-31

March 31 – Psalm 94:17-19

Unless the Lord had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave.
I cried out, “I am slipping!” but Your unfailing love, oh Lord, supported me.
When doubts filled my mindYour comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer!

Oh friend, do you feel like you’re slipping? Does the silence of the grave loom, filling your mind with doubts? Are you lost and alone? Is the darkness of your life more than you feel you can bear?

We’ve all been there!

I remember days of longing for death because it seemed far preferable to facing one more day of pain. I remember a mind filled with doubts. So. Many. Doubts!

But from that place I cried out to God, just as the psalmist did. Instead of “I am slipping,” my prayer was, “HELP ME!” But the heart-cry is the same. You can do it too! Call out. Send up your plea for help.

My whole-hearted testimony mirrors that of the psalmist. Unless the Lord had answered my cry, unless He had helped me, I would have despaired. I would have ended it.

But His unfailing love supported me too! I have never experienced love like that of my Heavenly Father for me. It is a shining ray of light that pierces through the blackest darkness.

Under its glow every doubt was silenced. Hope was renewed. Joy reborn. Peace restored.

Cry out my friend, for unless the Lord helps you, you will fall!
