March 6 – Psalms 19:7-11

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commands of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.

Do you ever feel like God isn’t fair?  If I’m honest, I have felt that way many times. Of course, it isn’t true, but I’ve felt that way nonetheless.  I think anyone who has gone through a trial that wasn’t really their fault would have to admit the same.  That’s why the Bible is so important.  Because if we’re following our feelings, they will lead us to flawed thinking every time. But the Word of the Lord is perfect and always true.  It is imperative that we cling to it in times of trouble, so we’ll be sure to stay on the right path.

Let me ask you something else. Do you ever feel like you’re too stupid to handle the problems in front of you? Do you feel utterly unequipped to make the decisions you need to make, or accomplish the goals that have been set for you?  Let me help you settle the score right now.  You are. I am. We all are. On our own, every one of us is, what the Bible would call, simple.  We absolutely cannot handle this life on our own, but praise God, we don’t have to!  The decrees of the Lord (the Bible) are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The answers – all of them, are found in the pages of Scripture. With the Holy Spirit leading us, the Bible will provide everything we need to navigate the highs and lows of life with clarity. It is insight for life.

My friends, whatever our individual situations, it is my earnest prayer that every single one of us will cherish the words God has given us through His Spirit.  The Bible is a precious treasure and we have been blessed with an abundance.  Not only is it available in our language, but if one version is hard to understand, there are at least 20 more at our fingertips to clarify the confusion!  This is a wealth beyond measure! Have we thanked God for it today?  Are we utilizing our privilege? Because as His children, God has given us those precious words as a warning, and living in obedience will result in great reward!
