February 24 – Colossians 1:11-14
We also pray that you will be strengthened with all His glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to His people, who live in the light. For He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
Are we filled with joy? Do we even believe it’s possible? I mean, life hurts. It is filled with sorrow and pain. So, how can we expect to experience a lasting joy as long as we’re stuck here?
I won’t lie, it’s not easy. We’re certainly not going to find lasting joy from anything here on earth. But the Bible tells us that through the strength of God’s glorious power we can be equipped with an endurance and a patience that will allow us to be filled with joy.
How? By shifting our focus from the trials here to the eternal glory that awaits us. With patient endurance, we’ll weather the storms of this life with a spirit of continual thanksgiving, because we’ll understand how very temporary they are. The darkness of the storms will never be able to put out the light of our future hope! We’ll live in that light.
So, let’s rejoice my friends! For we were doomed, but we have been rescued from the kingdom of darkness and transferred to the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. He purchased our freedom with His own precious blood, and forgave our sins! Oh, what everlasting joy is ours!
