February 20- 1 Corinthians 10:13

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Do you sometimes feel like you’re the only one in the world going through the trials pulling you down these days?  Do you look at other believers and think they seem to have figured it all out while you just keep getting tripped up over and over on the same things?  If you can’t believe me when I tell you you’re not alone, then believe the Bible.  God’s Word assures us that no matter what it is that tempts us to turn from God and His ways, no matter what it is that entices us to sin, there are others who are experiencing the very same things.  We’re not alone, and there is so much hope for every one of us, because God is faithful!

Do you remember the story of Job in the Bible?  Do you remember how it started?  Satan was standing before God in heaven and together they were observing Job.  Satan asked permission from God to torment Job; to tempt him to curse the name of God by stripping him of every blessing in his life.  God allowed it, but He gave Satan very specific parameters.  The lesson is:  even Satan and his demons don’t have the power to do anything to us that God hasn’t allowed. This verse from 1 Corinthians gives us a promise: He will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we have the capacity (through Him) to withstand.  It promises that He will always provide a way out. He will always provide a way for us to endure.

What temptations are you facing today?  Have you looked for your way of escape?  Let’s cry out to God and ask Him to show us the way.  Let’s believe the Bible when it says we’re not alone and allow that assurance to strip away our shame so that we can enjoy the victory that often accompanies community and accountability.  We are His precious children and we don’t need to spend another day under the shadow of defeat! Let’s step out into His light and find our way out so that we can endure, because God is faithful!
