February 12 – Deuteronomy 31:6
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
In this verse, Moses is addressing the people of Israel in his farewell speech. They have been wandering around the wilderness for 40 years. The last of the rebellious generation who, in spite of all God had done for them, chose not to trust Him has died off. They were the generation who chose not to cross the Jordan into the Promised Land for fear of the mighty people of that land. Their bodies had fallen in the wilderness because of their lack of faith. But they left behind a new generation. A generation who believed God to fight for them. A generation quick to obey. Moses reminds this young group of Israelites who it is they follow. He calls them to strength and courage as they put their faith in a God who has promised to personally go ahead of them. A God who has promised to never abandon them, to never fail them.
What has God called you to today? What are the adversaries that stand in your way and demand to be conquered in order for you to reach our own “promised land?” God does not change, my friends! The same God who promised to personally go ahead of His precious people and fight for them will do the same for you! We are His dearly loved children and if He is calling us to action it is because He has something great in store for us on the other side. Let’s be strong and courageous because we know that the Mighty One of Israel will never EVER fail us or abandon us. He will personally go ahead of us! Let’s go take possession of our Promised Land!
