This Day in History: 0000-02-03

February 3 – Titus 2:11-15

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
You must teach these things and encourage the believers to do them. You have the authority to correct them when necessary, so don’t let anyone disregard what you say.

Oh friends, I know this life is so hard! I know our struggles and hurts feel like they’re going to overwhelm us. I know there are days when we get out of bed in the morning and wonder why God has allowed the pain to be so great, so persistent, and so seemingly unending. But no matter how it feels, the truth is still this: Jesus Christ gave His life to free us from sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own! A day IS coming when His glory will be revealed to the whole world, and only those who belong to Him will survive it.

For us, it will be a wonderful day. A day on which He will put an end to our suffering and pain. He’ll wipe away every tear, heal every wound, and make us totally perfect and whole. Forever!

So, on this day, while we’re still waiting for that day, let’s allow the truth of our salvation to renew our hope and reinvigorate our work. Let’s recommit ourselves totally to live as He has called us to live: with wisdom, righteousness and devotion to God, resolved to do good. Let’s encourage each other with Truth, and gently admonish one another when needed. Let’s turn from godless living (and thinking) and sinful pleasures and follow Him again with every ounce of our being!
