January 30 – Colossians 3:12-15

Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowances for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

I am still overwhelmed daily by the knowledge that God chose me!  He chose me to be part of His holy family, the people He loves.  Do you ever feel that way?  Just overwhelmed with gratitude? Such a wonderful blessing demands a response.  Since we have been chosen to be His dearly loved children, we must surrender to His Spirit.  We need to be the kind of people who respond with tenderhearted mercy to every person God puts in our path.  We need to be people who are kind and gentle.  People who are patient in all circumstances.  People who have the humility to understand that it’s really not about us. Ever. It’s always, ALWAYS about Him.  We need to be people who have looked right into the face of our own waywardness and fully grasped the weight of His forgiveness.  Because when we do that, it won’t be so hard to forgive others.  When we do that, suddenly the faults of our brothers and sisters will fall into perspective.

Precious friends, we are SO loved!  Our Lord has given everything for us.  Be overwhelmed by it!  Ask Him to give you the same love for His body that He has.  We are meant to be completely united as one.  Just as Father, Son and Spirit are united as One!  We are meant to be bound together in perfect harmony.  We are meant to have peace in our hearts that can come only from Christ.  That peace should spill over into our interactions and bring peace to the whole body.  Peace. Love. Kindness. Humility. Those are the things that should define His children!  And each and every one of those things come as a result of being thankful.  They come as a result of being overwhelmed by the fact that HE. CHOSE. US!!!! So let’s always be thankful!
