March 30 – Thessalonians 3:5

May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.

Who, or what is leading our hearts today?  Is it the Lord, or is it something else?  Fear? Shame?  Grief?  Self-pity?  Pride? Greed?  If it’s not the Lord, then I would guess things aren’t quite working out for us.  Because anything other than the Lord will lead us to discontentment. Let’s ask ourselves the hard questions today and if we need to surrender our hearts to His leading, let’s be quick to do it!

-Am I content with where God has me today? If not, why not?
-What exactly is it that I’m hanging on to and allowing to get in the way of God’s leading?
-Is it really worth it?  Do I really want to stay here in this pit, or do I want to let go and let God pull me out?
-Do I believe that I can be content even when life is hard?  Do I believe that my soul can be at peace even through the storms? If not, what is it about God’s character that I am not believing to be true?
Am I willing to trust God, even when I can’t see or understand what He’s doing? If not, why?
-Do I believe the Bible is true?  If I do, then God is trustworthy.  Will I chose to believe that today?
-Do I act like the child of the King of Kings?  Am I ready to accept that this is who I am and start letting that truth permeate my whole being?

My friends, when it is the Lord who leads our hearts we can rest assured that we will grow in understanding.  We will begin to know, way down in the depths of who we are that God loves us.  That knowledge will change us at our very core and we will behave as only His children can.  With a quiet confidence, a security that surpasses anything else in the world.  A confidence that expresses itself through patient endurance which can come only through the power of Jesus Christ.  May God lead each and every one of our hearts today, tomorrow and forever into a perfect understanding of His love.  May we each behave like the children of the King, for that is who we are!
