October 11 – Matthew 7:7-8

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.  
Keep on seeking, and you will find.
Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  
For everyone who asks, receives.
Everyone who seeks, finds.  
And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Do you ever feel like you have prayed, and prayed, and prayed about something and it just doesn’t seem like God is ever going to answer?  I know I have. But the Bible tells us more than once that if we are persistent in our prayers, if we are delighting ourselves in the Lord, if we pray according to His will, if we abide in His Word and His Word abides in us, if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, if we believe we have what we ask, if we ask in His name… He will give us what we ask for.

I’ll be honest with you, I don’t really understand how to reconcile these promises to my reality sometimes.  But I do know, without a shadow of a doubt, that as the Bible says, “all the promises of the Lord prove true.”  These verses in Matthew make some promises, and we can cling to them. They WILL prove true, because the One who made the promise is trustworthy!

So let’s claim these promises today. Just like Moses, let’s boldly remind God that we know exactly who He is (and let’s praise Him for it!)  and we know what He has promised and so we are counting on Him to act.

Let’s ask, and ask, and ask again.  Let’s study the Word diligently to be sure that what we ask is in line with His will.  As we’re reading let’s learn everything we can about who He is and let’s delight in our great God!

Let’s seek Him, and seek Him again, and seek Him some more knowing that as we do we will surely find Him.  Let’s meditate on every story of His faithfulness both in the Bible and in our own lives in order to grow our faith to ten times the size of a mustard seed!  Let’s take every opportunity we can find to deepen our relationship with Him.

Let’s knock, and knock, and knock again upon His door, knowing that as we do the door will be opened and we will be invited in to commune with Him.  As we reach new levels of intimacy with our Savior, understanding that He is our loving Father, and we are His dearly loved children, let’s ask once more; believing that we have what we ask for.
