This Day in History: 0000-11-21
November 21 – Hebrews 12:28-29
Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire.
Something really jumped out at me as I studied Scripture for this Thanksgiving series -When we grasp the promise of eternity, everything changes.
Time without end is somewhat unfathomable to us. In our reality everything eventually ends. And yet, somehow, the temporal nature of our world actually causes our trials to seem bigger. Though we know they’ll end, as everything does, they FEEL all-consuming! But the truth God so deeply wants us to understand is that this life is so short, and our trials will feel so small when we are ushered into His presence for time immeasurable!
Friends, if we can find some way to focus in on that truth, we will be overwhelmed by it. It’s unimaginable!
No end.
Eternal life spent as the dearly loved children of the High King of Heaven! What could possibly be so unbearable in this life that it could outweigh the joy of that reality? There really isn’t anything. Not if we’ve truly understood it.
So, let us be thankful! Let’s praise our great God for the security of that promise. Let’s thank Him that our future with Him in His Kingdom is unshakable! Let’s sit in His presence and allow ourselves to be filled with holy fear and awe. Let’s ask Him to consume us, to burn away the doubt and the unbelief. Let’s ask the devouring fire that is our Lord and Savior to destroy everything in us that does not please Him and to bring us out pure and refined. A treasure in the palm of His hands. His forevermore!
