Questions Asked of Me, and My Answers:

When did you come to Jesus?

I was a little girl, probably about 7, and I was laying in my bed one night in the dorm of the boarding school I attended for the children of missionary kids. I was wide awake, and remember the smell of Jambu blossoms carried into the room by the breeze blowing in from the open window next to my bed. Somewhere close by people we having a conversation, and I was trying to hear what they were saying, but they were too far away to hear anything more than the gentle rising and falling of their voices.
My mind drifted to the deep thoughts of a 7-year-old, and I found myself pondering whether I had ever applied everything I had grown up knowing about Jesus and salvation to myself. I had always just sort of assumed I was saved because it was all so familiar. Well, I stopped my thinking right there and prayed, asking Jesus to forgive my sins and be Lord of my life. He did, and He has been ever since!

What is the one thing you always wanted to do but haven’t?

There are many things – almost all involving travel. I think at the very top of my list is visit Israel. I would just love to be able to walk where Jesus walked, and see the places for myself that I read about every day. I really think a visit to the Promised Land would make the Bible come alive in a new way, and I truly hope I will be able to do it some day.

When it is your time to leave this world, what do you want people to remember about you?

Oh, that’s an easy one! I want people to remember that I loved the Lord with all my heart and that I followed Him with my everything!

What is your favorite party dish you make?

Well, my guacamole is pretty popular, so probably that… but I love to cook for people, so there are many.

Do you prefer tea, coffee, water or soda?

Coffee. I almost never drink soda, and I don’t really like tea. If I’m not drinking coffee, I’m drinking water, but I’m probably wishing I was drinking coffee. But I do try to limit myself to one or two cups a day – so water it is. Haha.

Why did you want to become a blogger?

I’m not sure I really did want to become a blogger, or at least not in the area I’m in. But I’ve always loved to write, and God gave me a talent for it from an early age. But I am a blogger because God told me to be a blogger. Plain and simple. So I guess I wanted to become a blogger because I wanted to be obedient to the call of God.

Do you have any pets/animals?

Well, this is kind of a funny story. My husband and I have always told our kids we would never get a pet because we “aren’t really animals-in-the-house people.” Well, we came home from our last trip to Africa to a bit of a mouse problem in our house and finally decided we’d rather have a cat than mice. SO, we got a kitten from my husband’s sister, and he has officially stolen our hearts. We went from we’ll never have a pet to cat sleeps in our bed people overnight. Whoops.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I don’t know, I kind of like where I live now. We get to experience all four seasons, cost of living is very low, we’re close to lots of family, we have good schools for our kids, things are just the right pace for me, and we get to live in the greatest country on earth. I think I’m where I want to be.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

What is spare time? Haha… just kidding. I love to travel. Like a LOT! I love to try new and exciting foods, and then learn to cook them. But most of all, I love to spend time with the people I love.

What do you love most about blogging?

There are a few things I love “most.” I love the relationships I get to make both with other bloggers and with my audience. It’s pretty awesome how God does that. I love knowing that I’m doing what God wants me to do, and having the amazing feeling of being used by Him. And, this probably sounds silly, but I just love the way I feel when a sentence or a paragraph comes together perfectly. It is a thrill that goes all the way down to my toes. Haha.

What is your favorite dessert?

I’m not a big sweets person, but there is just nothing like a simple, extra fudgey brownie.
